Cooking Camps-Summer 2025

Waitlist Available

We will show your children and teens simple techniques on how to create delicious and healthy meals in the kitchen.  Each day we will focus on a new knife skills, cooking technique, ethnic cuisine, and create a brand new three course menu. Campers will get to enjoy a new snack, lunch and dessert created by them each day!

Ages are suggested. Please email katie@durhamspiritscompany.com if you have a question about whether or not your child would be a good fit for the camp.

All camps are held at our location on 3222 Old Chapel Hill Road in Durham and limited to 8 students.

All camps are $445/student. 10% sibling discount. 10% multiple week discount.

Global cooking Camp

11-14 years old, JULY 7th-11th, 9 AM- 2 PM Waiting List

The camp is for ages 11-14 years old will run Monday, July 7th-Friday, July 11th 9 am to 2 pm.  During this week, your adventurous teen will cook their way around the world. Each day we will focus on a different type of food. Later in the week we will spend time on menu planning. Please note this camp is for those children/teens who are adventurous and willing to try new foods.

Monday, July 7th: Street Food! Menu includes: Argentinian Empanadas; Egyptian Falafel; Mexican Elote; Vietnamese Bahn Mi; and French Sweet and Savory Crepes

Tuesday, July 8th: Noodles! Chinese Lo Mien; Thai Pad Thai; Italian stuffed pasta; Korean Jap Chae; Japanese Soba Noodles; Indian Meethi Seviyan.

Wednesday, July 9th: Dumplings!  Polish Pierogis; Chinese Pot Stickers; Indian Samosas; German Spaetzle; Italian Gnocchi; Peach Dumplings.

Thursday, July 10th: Appetizers! Brazilian Coxinha; French Gougeres; Spanish Patatas Bravas; Italian Arancini; Vietnamese Spring Rolls; Puerto Rican Tostones; Scallion Pancakes; Indian Gulab Jamun.

Friday, July 11th: Desserts! Italian Calzones; Australian Pavlova; Spanish Churros; Mexican Tres Leche Cake; Japanese Mochi; Portuguese Pastel de Nata.

Baking Camp-Waiting list

AGES 9-14 YEARS OLD, JULY 14th-18th, 9 AM- 2 PM

This camp is for those who like to bake! Each day we will focus on a different technique. This is a sample of what we will be making. We will also be preparing/incorporating what we make into a snack and lunch.

Monday, July 14th: Yeast Doughs! Pizza; Cinnamon Rolls; Baguettes; Soft Pretzals

Tuesday, July 15th: Pate a Choux! Gougeres; Profiteroles; Eclairs; Churros

Wednesday, July 16th: Cookies and Bars! Monster Cookies; Mexican Chocolate Brownies; Shortbread; Decorated Sugar Cookies.

Thursday, July 17th: Cupcakes and Quick Breads! Vanilla Chocolate Marbled Cupcakes; Biscuits; Lemon Blueberry Bread

Friday, July 18th: Plated Desserts! Souffles; Bread Pudding; Strawberry Shortcake; Fruit Tartletts; Crepes

European Cooking Camp, 9-11 years old, JULY 21st-25th, 9 AM- 2 PM Waiting List

Monday, July 21st: Topics covered: Chopping onions and garlic, learning to read recipes, kitchen safety, setting a table, making crepes.  French Cuisine.   

Tuesday, July 22nd: Topics covered: Mincing vegetables, learning to weigh and measure ingredients, making pasta, roasting. Italian Cuisine.  

Wednesday, July 23rd: Topics covered:  Chopping Tomatoes, growing your own vegetables, making paella. Spanish Cuisine.  

Thursday, July 24th: Topics covered: Chopping herbs, cooking with herbs, grilling, making pita bread.  Greek Cuisine.

Friday, June 25th: Topics covered: Cutting potatoes, making vinaigrettes, sauteing, making spaetzle. German Cuisine.

Fine Print: Due to the small sizes of our camps, it is imperative to give plenty of notice cancelation. For a full refund please cancel by phone ay May 31st. If you have to cancel after May 31st, you may receive a 50% refund. If you cancel less seven days before your camp, there will be no refund given.
